The Double Am Cup Champion (Blancpain GT Endurance 2018-19), Leonid Machitski, will return to the British GT Championship in 2021 together with Barwell Motorsport.
The Russian has been part of Barwell’s Lamborghini era since it first started in 2016. Having won the Pro-Am Cup at Spa 24h this year, he’s now returning to the UK with the objective to conquer the overall British GT Championship in the Lamborghini Huracán Evo GT3 backed by Vimetco Extrusion and continuing its successful relationship with the British outfit.

Partnering Leonid will be the ultra-fast Danish Pro driver, Dennis Lind, who has been a key part of the Lamborghini factory team’s success in the Blancpain/GT World Challenge over the past two seasons. Machitski took an impressive victory together with Dennis Lind at the 2019 Hankook 24 Hours of Barcelona.

We are also pleased to announce that in the new 2021 British GT season this car has been given Lamborghini’s blessing to carry their famous race number 63!

Testing for Barwell’s 2021 programmes will begin in early February with pre-season tests at Barcelona and Portimão, before the opening British GT event takes place at the historic Oulton Park on April 5th.

Leonid Machitski: “It’s a very competitive series and I’m very excited to start a new challenge. I have many great memories which take me back to 2006 when I first started my racing career and won the British GT with Barwell Motorsport in the GT3 class. I am delighted to be working with the team again, and especially teaming up with Dennis after winning the Barcelona 24 Hours last year. We know that we have a lot of work ahead of us, but I am definitely enthusiastic about that.”

Dennis Lind: “I’m delighted to join Barwell for this season, it has been a team that I’ve enjoyed every race with so far and it’s a lovely group of people. I also have a strong belief in Leo’s ability behind the wheel, so we’ll be a potent championship contender for sure!”

Mark Lemmer, Barwell Motorsport Team Principal: “I’m delighted with the line-ups we’ve been able to put together, which should give us the best chance possible to defend our coveted BGT titles. With Leo and Dennis we have a fantastic blend of speed and experience!”
