SIX-HOUR CHALLENGE BEGINS FOR LEIONID MACHITSKI AT THE NÜRBURGRING
The second round of the Endurance Cup of the GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS is just two days away, where Leonid Machitski will return to action together with Barwell Motorsport for a six-hour contest at the Nürburgring.
A 48-car field featuring 10 brands will be present at the German venue, which returns to the Endurance Cup schedule for the first time since 2016 and takes on extra significance as the final long-distance contest before the marquee Total 24 Hours of Spa.
Nürburgring will mark also the return of spectators on the grandstands, following confirmation from the German venue. There is a corresponding distance between the blocks and it will be mandatory for fans to wear a face covering until they reach their seat. The paddock remains closed to the public at this time.
Track action begins with a set of paid tests on Thursday, while the official sessions get underway on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s race starting at 11:45 a.m. CEST.
Barwell’s Pro-Am #77 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo backed by Vimetco Extrusion / Asterus with Leonid Machitski, Rob Collard and Sandy Mitchell are ready to repeat its thrilling podium success.
Reflecting on the challenge ahead of this weekend, Leonid Machitski comments:
“It has been a long break, I haven’t race since Imola and obviously I’m very excited to be back in a car for a 6-hour race. Imola was a little bit disappointing, but we’ll keep fighting. We worked super hard, analyzed everything and we come back stronger. It will be nice to see spectators in the grandstands, they will bring new energy to all of us! Our goal, for sure, is to be at the front and score a maximum of points.”
